1 Chronicles - Chapter 1

In this we will read details of stories which have already been covered - particularly with regard to the Kingdom of Judah.  In the first chapter the writer goes right back to the start of the story of God's people - beginning with Adam.

There is a genealogy in this chapter that not only shows the line from Adam to Jacob (also called Israel), but also identifies the wider descendants of Noah and of Abraham.

The line from Adam to Jacob is mirrored in Luke 3 where Jesus' own genealogy is set out, showing that he is a descendent of Adam; a link which is referred to to distinguish the first Adam (through whom sin came into the world) with the last Adam (Jesus ) - through whom salvation from sin came.
