1 Chronicles - Chapter 10

In this chapter we read about the death of King Saul in a battle against the Philistines:

"So Saul and his three sons died there together, bringing his dynasty to an end.  When all the Israelites in the Jezreel Valley saw that their army had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their towns and fled. So the Philistines moved in and occupied their towns."

When Jesus was considering his own death (in Mark 14) he said that the same thing would happen to his disciples:

"On the way, Jesus told them, “All of you will desert me. For the Scriptures say, ‘God will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’"
