1 Chronicles - Chapter 13

David is planning to bring back the ark of God - returning God's presence to his people.  This seemed like a good thing to do, and David devised a plan which appeared to be honouring to God:

"They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it. David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets."

However, in God's word it stated that the ark should be carried - not moved on a cart.  The plan therefore ended in disaster:

When they came to the threshing-floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God."

At the start of his ministry, Jesus was tempted to achieve God's plan to exalt Jesus and make him King of Kings, but in a way that did not follow God's word.  Jesus rejected the temptation, and delivered God's will in the way that God planned.
