1 Chronicles - Chapter 4

It is easy to read through this chapter and miss any reference to Jesus.  It is yet another genealogy, but does not link to the line of Jesus.  

However, hidden in verse 4 is the start of the Christmas nativity story.  There is a prophecy in Micah 5:

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”

This prophecy is about Bethlehem, the city of David, where the Messiah would be born.  And in 1 Chronicles 4, we see that city established among the clans of Judah:

"These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah the father of Bethlehem."
