1 Samuel - Chapter 19

God has a plan for our salvation through Jesus, and Satan repeatedly tries to stop the plan by killing the people God is using.  Jesus is going to come from the line of David, and in this chapter Saul is trying to kill him.

"But an evil spirit from the Lord came on Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand. While David was playing the lyre,  Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear, but David eluded him as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David made good his escape."

The same thing happened to Jesus in John 8:

‘Very truly I tell you,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I am!’ At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds."

Both David and Jesus would die; but in God's timing, not man's.
