2 Kings - Chapter 13
Elisha has now died and in this chapter there is a very strange incident following his death:
"Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring. Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the corpse into the tomb of Elisha and fled. But as soon as the body touched Elisha’s bones, the dead man revived and jumped to his feet!"
After his death, the prophet of God demonstrates that the death of a prophet can result in life for another.
There is an equally strange parallel story in Matthew 27, where the death of Jesus results in life for others - not just eternal life in the future, but physical life that very day in Jerusalem
"Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people."
