2 Chronicles - Chapter 10

King Rehoboam starts his reign in this chapter.  His approach to the people in the north of the Kingdom leads to the splitting of the kingdom.  Although he is one of Jesus' ancestors, his words can be contrasted with those spoken by Jesus in Matthew 11.  

Rehoboam said:

“My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!”

Jesus said:

"Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
