2 Chronicles - Chapter 15
In this chapter we see the contrast between those who love God with all their heart and soul, who are blessed by God, and those who rejected God, who were sentenced to death:
"They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul. All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death."
These two approaches are seen in the New Testament. Jesus refers to this in Luke 10:
"On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[c]; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”"
And Paul says this in Romans 6:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b] Christ Jesus our Lord."
