2 Chronicles - Chapter 2

In this chapter Solomon starts the preparations for building the temple to God.  In verse one he gives orders to build a temple for the Name of the Lord.  And again in verse 4 Solomon says "I am about to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God."

This emphasis on the "Name" is important.  In Exodus Moses meets God at the burning bush and asks for His name.  God says "I am who I am"; tell them "I am has sent me to you."

This name, "I am" is adopted by Jesus in the book of John to describe himself.

And in Philippians 2 we read this about Jesus' name:

"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
