2 Chronicles - Chapter 27
This is a very short chapter, briefly outlining the reign of King Jotham.
Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord. But the people acted corruptly.
There is a contrast between the king who is acting righteously, and the people who are acting corruptly. Because of the King God blesses the country. King Jotham became mighty and the country prospered. God does not punish the people for their sins, because of the righteousness of their King.
This is a picture of the world and Jesus. King Jesus is righteous and the people of the world are sinful. And because of the righteousness of their King the people can avoid judgment for their sins.
