2 Samuel - Chapter 18

In this chapter David demonstrates the love of a father for his child - even when the child does not return the love and acts in rebellion.

This is the love of God for all - even when people reject him.

And at the very end of the chapter David says:

“O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you—O Absalom, my son, my son!"

And this is exactly what Jesus did - he died instead of those who actually deserved it.
