2 Samuel - Chapter 4
This is a short chapter, with murder and bloodshed throughout it. But hidden away in it is David's reference to Jesus. Recab and Baanah came to David with the head of Ish-Bosheth, whom they had killed. They expected a reward, but did not receive one - instead they were themselves executed. David's response to them began:
“As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from all adversity,"
This is an echo of Job's words in Job 19:
"For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;"
David knows that his Lord lives and is his redeemer. And that redeemer is Jesus.
