Exodus - Chapter 1

The story of God's chosen people reached the death of Joseph at the end of Genesis, and continues in the book of Exodus.  The two are linked with the word "and" at the start of the book.  And in the first chapter we have a parallel with the story of the birth of Jesus.  In Exodus the Pharaoh gives an order that all the baby boys were to be killed.  In the book of Matthew King Herod gives an order that all the baby boys were to be killed.  We will see in the next chapter how God protects one special baby in Egypt.  And in Matthew we see how God protects Jesus by sending him to Egypt.
