Exodus - Chapter 18
Moses is a type of Christ - demonstrating what Jesus is like.
But in this Chapter Moses is acting as a judge over the people. This does not represent Jesus, as we read (In John 12) Jesus saying:
"I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world."
And so Jethro. Moses father-in-law gives Moses some advice. He tells him that he should not judge the people. as that is not his role. "You must be the people's representative before God and bring their disputes to him. Teach them the decrees and laws, and show them the way to live and the duties they are to perform.
Moses listened this advice and followed it; and so he now once again became a type of Christ; our representative before God the Father, who teaches us and shows us how to live.
