Exodus - Chapter 23

In this chapter there are numerous references to Jesus - not least because of the annual festivals that point to him.  But I shall go to verse 20, where we read of another theophany - an appearance of Jesus in person before his birth.  ""see, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.  Pay attention to him and listen to what he says.  Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him."

Jesus is going to be with them to lead them on their journey.  He was with his people before his incarnation - just as he is today with his people following his ascension.
