Exodus - Chapter 24

We see here that Moses alone was to approach the Lord - others were to wait at a distance.  Moses was to be a mediator between God and the people.

In Paul's first letter to Timothy (Chapter 2) Paul wrote:

"There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men.
