Exodus - Chapter 3

This chapter contains one of the key appearances of Jesus in the Old Testament - when he meets with Moses from within a burning bush.  Jesus identifies himself by the name "I am".

It is this name that Jesus identifies with in his ministry, and the book of John includes a number of statements by Jesus using this name - I am the door; I am the bread of life; I am the light of the world; I am the resurrection and the life ...

And in John Chapter 8 Jesus says to the Jewish leader "before Abraham was born, I am".  They recognised this as a claim by Jesus to be God, and picked up stones to kill him for blasphemy.  It would, indeed, have been blasphemy if it were not true.  But it was, and still is, true.  Jesus is God - the I am of Exodus Chapter 3.
