Exodus - Chapter 30

In this Chapter God tells Moses to "make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing.  Place it between the Tent of Meeting and altar, and put water in it."  This water is for the priests to wash their hands and feet before presenting an offering to the Lord.

This basin of water is in the tabernacle so it reminds us of Jesus - who said "I am the living water."

The water is for ceremonial washing, and this reminds us of the first miracle which Jesus performed - recorded in John Chapter 2.  He turned the water in the jars used for ceremonial washing into wine.

And the water was for washing the priests feet - an act which Jesus performed for his disciples at the start of the last supper.
