Exodus - Chapter 40

And so we come to the final chapter of Exodus.  We have read the story of the start of the Israel nation.  And have seen Jesus throughout that story.  Much of the book has been focussed on the design and construction of the tabernacle.  And in this final chapter we see the tabernacle set up and put into use.  And most importantly the Glory of the Lord enters the tabernacle.  "So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel during all their travels."  

And this is reflected in John Chapter 1 where we read that The Word (Jesus) became flesh, and made his dwelling among us - literally "the Word tabernacled among us."

Jesus is with us during all our travels, and we are his dwelling place.  And through us the Glory of the Lord can be seen by all people.

What a perfect end to the book of Exodus.
