Genesis - Chapter 12
This chapter begins the story of the Jewish nation - with the call of Abraham - the grandfather of Jacob - later named Israel. And verse three contains a promise from God to Abraham, which was to be a prophecy, fulfilled by Jesus.
I will make you a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.
The Bible then proceeds to show how God delivers this promise, through Israel, and through the promised Messiah - Jesus
Both Peter and Paul confirm this interpretation in the New Testament, when they each quote this promise.
Peter, in Acts 3, verse 25 - You are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, "through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed."
And Paul, in Galatians 3, verse 8 - The scriptures foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the Gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." And in verse 29 - If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
