Genesis - Chapter 24

In Chapter 22 we saw Abraham and Isaac representing the God the Father and God the Son, when the father gave his son as a sacrifice.

In Chapter 24 the father is getting a bride for his son.  And in this part of the story Isaac continues to represent the son, Jesus. And Rebekah represents his bride, the church.  The bride is a Gentile bride who leaves her family to be with her husband.  (Just as Jesus told his followers to leave their families in Mark 10).

In verse 58 they ask Rebekah if she will go with the servant to be married to Isaac, and she replies “I will go.”  This is the question all members of the church – the bride of Christ – have to answer for themselves.  Rebekah goes and meets Isaac for the first time at the well of Beer Lahai Roi – “the well of the living one who sees me.”
