Genesis - Chapter 3
This chapter is so full of links to Jesus it is hard to know which one to pick. The whole of the Bible is about God's plan to provide a solution to the fall of mankind, resulting from Adam's sin. There is a prophecy about Jesus in verse 15 - "I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head and you will strike his heel."
But the verse I would like to focus on is verse 21.
In verse 7 it said that Adam and Eve now knew that they were naked ; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. But man's attempt to cover up the results of sin and disobedience will never work. So in verse 21
"The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them."
To provide a cover for Adam and sin there was a shedding of innocent blood - death has come into the world as a result of sin. And with the death and shedding of innocent blood God is providing the solution. Jesus' death is the actual solution - but this verse is preparing the idea - setting the scene at the start of the story of redemption.
