Genesis - Chapter 31

In yesterday's review of Chapter 30 we looked ahead to see Jesus in this Chapter - the angel of the Lord who has been in control during the arrangements concerning the different coloured sheep and goats.

We can also notice in this chapter how the Lord has intervened directly both to Jacob and to Laban.  In verse 3 the Lord said to Jacob "Go back to the land of your fathers and to your relatives and I will be with you."  As Jacob is following these instructions Laban is pursuing him and the Lord says to Laban in verse 24 "Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad."

This story shows three distinct ways that Jesus cares for us.  He gives us directions in life; he oversees the circumstances in our lives; and he intervenes to protect us.
