Genesis - Chapter 33

In this chapter Jacob arrives at the city of Shechem in Canaan and camped within sight of the city.  For a hundred pieces of silver, he bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, the plot of ground where he pitched his tent.

In the gospel of John (chapter 4) we read about Jesus arriving at this same place.  Jesus came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.  Jacob's well was there.

It was at this well that Jesus offers water that will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
