Genesis - Chapter 44

In this chapter we see how much Judah has changed since the time when he and his brothers sold Joseph into slavery.  This time he is willing to be a substitute for Benjamin, and to accept Benjamin's punishment in his place.  "Now then, please let your servant remain here as my lord's slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers.

Form Judah's descendants will come Jesus - the lion of the tribe of Judah.  And he will be the perfect substitution - taking our guilt and our punishment from us and accepting it as his own.
