Genesis - Chapter 8

According to verse 4

On the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

Why give us this precise information?

Well, we need to look ahead to Exodus 12:2 where we are told that the calendar was reset.  Jesus was resurrected on the 17th day of Nisan - the (new first month of the year).  Which means that Moses new beginning took place on the same date as our own promise of a new beginning.
