Joshua - Chapter 15

In this chapter we look at the land that is allotted to Jesus' tribe - the royal tribe of Judah.  The link to Jesus is in what is not written rather than what is.

There are 114 cities listed - but there is no mention of the city of David - Bethlehem.  Micah includes a prophecy about Bethlehem in Micah 5, and says that it is insignificant:

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

Jesus was not born in Bethlehem because it was important or notable; rather Bethehem became notable because Jesus was born there.
