Joshua - Chapter 17

In Numbers 27 we read about the daughters of Zelophehad, who had died with no sons.  God gave Moses a special law to cover the situation, which enabled the inheritance to continue through the female line - a rule which allowed for Jesus to inherit the throne of David through the line of his mother Mary.

In this chapter of Joshua the land is allocated to the tribe of Manassah, and the daughters of Zelophehad went to the leaders to claim their inheritance under this special law - which was given to them by Joshua.
