Joshua - Chapter 19
In this chapter there is the final division of the land, with the areas for the final tribes and also for Joshua. Then, in the final verse of the Chapter, we read:
These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
This one sentence has so many links to Jesus. The inheritance is divided by Eleazar (which mean God is my helper - the name given to the Holy Spirit), Joshua (which as we have already seen is the name given to the Son; and is followed by the words "the son" just in case you miss it), and the head of chief of the fathers (which is the name by which God is known throughout the Gospels by Jesus).
We then have "an inheritance" (Ephesians 1:11 says, "In [Christ] we have obtained an inheritance".
Shiloh - meaning place of rest. In Matthew 11 Jesus says: “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Lord - in John 13 Jesus says "You call me teacher and Lord, and rightly so, because I am."
Door - John 10 - Jesus says "I am the door"
Tabernacle - John 1 says the word became flesh and dwelt - literally tabernacled - among us".
