Judges - Chapter 17
In this chapter we see a man named Micah. He is in need of God, but is seeking him the wrong way. He is then joined by an unnamed priest:
A young Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, who had been living within the clan of Judah, left that town in search of some other place to stay. On his way he came to Micah’s house.
The Priest is described as a levite (the tribe that acted as mediators between man and God - just as Jesus does;
He was from Bethlehem - just as Jesus was.
He came from within the clan of Judah - just as Jesus did.
And he left Bethlehem in search of some other place to stay - just as Jesus did in the nativity story, where he ends up in Egypt.
Micah invites the levite into his home, and says:
“Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, since this Levite has become my priest.”
Jesus wants us to invite him into their home so that we can say the same thing.
