Judges - Chapter 19

This is one of the most unpleasant chapters in the Bible.  A woman who is not even named is abused, killed and dismembered.  Looking through the chapter for Jesus was difficult.  In fact, I would suggest that he is not there.  And that is the whole point.  The chapter begins:

"In those days Israel had no king."

These were supposed to be God's people and he was to be their king.  Without a king even the chosen people lose all morality.  The chapter shows how desperately they needed a king.

The missing Jesus is the ultimate King of Kings and Lord of Lords and his absence is noticed.
