Leviticus - Chapter 5

In this Chapter we have the last of the five offerings - the Guilt Offering.  This offering is different because it includes restitution.  The person affected by the sin will receive compensation - including more than they lost (a 20% addition).  Once again the offering will include the sacrifice of an animal - this time a ram or a lamb.

Isaiah tells us (in the well known 53rd Chapter) that Jesus is the ultimate Guilt Offering.

"Yet it was the Lord's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and will prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand."

God is affected by our sins - he loses fellowship with the people he loves.  Through the guilt offering of Jesus God receives back a redeemed world.
