Numbers - Chapter 23

We continue the story of Balaam, and we see here him prophesying over Israel.  In verse 21 he says:

 "No misfortune is seen in Jacob,
   no misery observed in Israel.
The Lord their God is with them;
   the shout of the King is among them."

It has already been clear that the Lord God is with the Israelites, and he has demonstrated this in many miraculous ways.  But this is the first reference to God as "the King", and is a prophetic word from Balaam.  Jesus is described in Revelation 17 as the Lord of Lords and "King of Kings".  And we have already seen that he, too, is among the Israelites during their wanderings.
